Turning Trash into Treasures
There’s something magical about a Saturday spent creating together.
This past weekend, I hosted a drop-in art class at the cozy and charming The Perfectly Imperfect Gift Shoppe, and let me just say—my heart is still full. The project? Upcycled florals painted using plastic bags. (Yes, really!)
We took everyday materials most folks would toss and gave them a second life as an art supply! Some were bold and bright, others soft and subtle—but each flower reflected its maker’s personality in the most delightful way. That’s the part I never get over: even when we all start with the same supplies and techniques, every finished piece tells its own story.
Workshops like this are a sweet reminder of why I love teaching art. They’re not just about learning a new skill—they’re about showing up, getting a little messy, and letting creativity surprise you. There were moments of laughter, quiet focus, and plenty of “oh wow!” discoveries as petals took shape.
If you’ve ever been curious about joining one of my classes, I’d love to have you. Whether you consider yourself an artist or not, my workshops are made for anyone who wants to slow down, create something meaningful, and leave with both a finished piece and a smile.
I just updated my Classes page with upcoming dates and details—take a peek if you’re feeling inspired.
Until next time, keep finding beauty in the unexpected.
