This one is my husband’s fault

Hello studio friends!

Let's talk about how my husband is responsible for my newest card.

A few months ago I was an exhibitor at the New England Made trade show and it was such a good experience. I got to connect with so many wonderful shop owners, and one thing kept coming up: they were looking for New England-themed items. And I... didn't have much of that.

So that moved straight to the top of the list.

On the drive home, my husband and I started brainstorming. Which sounds lovely, right? Collaborative creative partnership, two heads better than one, all that...

Except his ideas tend toward the outlandish. And as the weekend went on, they only got more so. His personal favorite involved a lobster, a bathtub full of butter, and somehow... a lighthouse? I still don't fully understand where the lighthouse came in. I don't think he does either.

But here's the thing. The lobster got stuck in my head.

I kept coming back to it. The image, the pun potential, the whole vibe. And before I knew it, I was deep in Procreate working on something I hadn't planned to make at all.

So……say hello to my newest birthday card...

"You're another year butter, baby!"

She's bright, she's a little ridiculous, she's holding a martini with a pat of butter in it, and she is absolutely the card for the person in your life who would find that hilarious. Which, honestly? Is a lot of people.

Available now on Etsy and Faire for wholesale ordering.

More New England designs are in the works... and yes, I'm still taking husband suggestions under advisement. Very, very cautious advisement.

With love (and butter),

Meghann
